Yeah, the expanded universe is full of them.

Yep they're twins. Interesting idea. The whole yin/yang thing.SeonaBeth wrote:Also can't remember- are Leia and Luke twins? Symbolism there too?

That was easily my least favourite part of the prequels.Admin wrote:Because Lucas can't write for women. Padme dies of ... well, femininity, after all.

Luke accepts that Vader is his father very quickly, don't you think?

Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Luke's going through his apotheosis here in his mind-chat with Vader.
Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Yes, but according to the internal logic of the film it's because the force tells them of their true relationship. That's why when he was shouting 'no!' it wasn't an outright denial, it was a scream of horror and realisation.SeonaBeth wrote:Luke accepts that Vader is his father very quickly, don't you think?

Cue the music. And you will have that stuck in your head for at least the next half hour.
Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Still think it's a shifty spot to end. It seems impossible to have a 2of3 movie end decently...

Righty-o. Just one more film to go and we can talk a little more in depth about the monomyth, its relevance to cultural artefacts today, and have a bit of a debate.
Now, any questions about your hero's journey folio pieces?

I'd settle for the next half hour. Last week I found my self humming away to the theme music for the whole day!!!

Note that I've posted some reading material in the other topic in this week's forum. You might find it interesting when examining the hero's journey as it applies to your writing.
Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Should we try and have something to workshop next week or no?

Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Definitely. We discussed last week having some pieces workshopped on this forum, but no-one has taken advantage of that offer. I would say if you want to have your piece workshopped before you hand it in, get cracking.
Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Cool, I'll start working on it this week then, thanks.

Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Did anyone want to talk about their idea and get help fleshing it out?
Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Just your teacher offering to help you with your homework here. Don't all of you jump at the offer at once.
Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
I'm afraid that I haven't thought about it much...sorry

Re: Welcome to week 2 of online
Obviously, because it's only 500 words, we can't go into much detail. Or can we just detail part of the journey...
